Meet Darlyng & Co.

Tara Darnley, Founder

Takeoff: When meeting someone new, how do you explain what Darlyng & Co. does?

Tara: At Darlyng & Co., we help parents through every step of the journey by offering them peace of mind with our line of safe and stylish baby products and apparel. We provide everyday essentials for everyday parenting.

Takeoff: What inspired you to start Darlyng & Co.?

Tara: Our daughter Alethia inspired our first invention the Yummy Mitt Teething Mitten when she began teething at only 2-months-old. Darlyng & Co. was born from this idea.

Takeoff: What has surprised you about yourself as your business has grown?

Tara: How fast I’m able to adapt, pivot and execute no matter what the situation is.

Takeoff: How did you learn about Target Takeoff and how did you know when it was time to consider going through an accelerator experience?

Tara: I heard about the program from my New Voices Family, friends and even a few Target staff who are customers ?; after learning more about the program and where we are in our business it couldn’t be a more perfect time to take advantage of the program.

Takeoff: What makes you most excited about working with Target Takeoff?

Tara: Learning from the team and also fellow accelerator members. I’m excited to meet Target team members and gain real feedback we can implement from all the upcoming sessions.

Takeoff: Who has been instrumental in supporting your idea and why?

Tara: My business partner, who is my husband, is very supportive of all my crazy and wild ideas. This allows us to have a balanced relationship as both business partners and spouse.

Takeoff: As a founder, how are you functioning today that is different than how you were functioning at the beginning of 2020? What keeps you motivated?

Tara: I’ve definitely been way more creative over the last few months and not afraid to take risk as it pertains to pivoting our brand. Our customers have been super supportive, and this is what motives me, plus my amazing family.

Takeoff: What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs who are navigating the impact of COVID-19 to their business?

Tara: COVID-19 has definitely forced all of us to pivot and reevaluate our businesses. This is a great time to see what’s working in your business and what’s not working. Pivot with what’s working!

Takeoff: What makes you most excited about the future of your brand?

Tara: I’m most excited to see how we’ve come from having just one product to over 100 products before the end of 2020. I’m still pinching myself and excited to see what products we develop to simplify parenting.
